Incipit Bellum

All my life, I have wished I could fight in the Civil War. I have been a hardcore Re-enactor for the last five years. No Farbs here, brother. I have fought for regiments on both sides-- which some people have said is farbish-- but I figure, why not experience it from both sides. I've already been re-enacting for longer than the Civil War lasted.

The thing is, now that there is real Civil War, and make no mistake, this Potomac War is a Civil War, I loathe it. It is a horrible thing and it has only just begun.

And yet, I must go fight. I will leave tomorrow for Arlington. I've got the truck loaded up. I'm ready to do what must be done. I would not if this were a war of aggression on the part of Virginia. But it is not. I am going to fight for the sovereignty of my state. They shall find that our Commonwealth is, as Hobbes said, a Leviathan.

But I trust their district, too, feels the same about itself. It shall be easy for none, but I pray it is harder for them.

Thucydides wrote his great history during the war itself. Here, when I have access to the internet, I shall post everything I can about the war. Not only my own experiences, for there are deeds, but also the words of men.

Good-bye, my darling. Tomorrow begins my Potomac War.
